Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans has added to his bulging midfield line up, with the addition of Millwall midfielder Calum Butcher.

It was a late deal on deadline day, as Butcher was firstly released by the Championship side.

Although the length of the deal hasn’t been released by either the Stags or Millwall, it is a major coup for Evans.

The 26 year old is expected to feature in the weekend trip to Carlisle in League 2.

Butcher began his career in the capital at Tottenham Hotspur, and has also played for Barnet and Dundee Utd.

He featured in the side that saw Burton Albion promoted to the Championship and will forge a terrific partnership with Jacob Mellis.

How Evans will manage to keep half a dozen players interested in just a couple of midfield slots, will be interesting as the season goes on.
