Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans has told fans to get ‘some perspective’ after boos rang out of the One Call following the CheckaTrade defeat to Lincoln City.

Former Stags strikers Ollie Palmer, and legend Matt Green scored as the imps beat a much changed Stags 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Evans made ten changes in total from the side which drew 2-2 with Luton last weekend, but the different side on show did no favours for the home support as they let their feelings known at the end of the game.

Evans told the Mansfield CHAD “I heard one or two supporters perhaps not best pleased.’

“But we have made 10 changes and we have chased up there in the 90th minute with Bobby. They have to put some perspective on it.’

“This competition will never be a priority.’

Those last words, have also been met with some critics jumping all over them, citing that Evans should have said it prior to the game.

With a huge influx of players this past summer, some supporters have been on social media to ask why the club aren’t making a go of cup competitions.

I see Evans still uses the same old excuses he has used since his days at Stamford and Boston. When will owners see through his bluster and stop employing him…

With some comments this week, his honeymoon period looks to be coming to an end anyway.

When a manager starts having a battle with the fans there can only ever be one winner and it’s not the boss.He needs to reel in his neck a little, watch his words or choose them more wisely or he could soon be finding himself looking for another club to employ him.

Evans will never lay any blame at his door, but it is clear that if results don’t improve quickly then the noise from the stands against him might grow a little louder.

With the investment in the squad this summer and the transfer window, a quick look at the table is not going to quieten down those having a go just yet.

He needs some quick wins to shut people up.
