After the draw with Coventry prevented his Stags team heading into the League 2 promotion places, manager Steve Evans didn’t hold back in his assessment of the Referee.

The Stags saw their early lead against 10 men Coventry wiped out by what Evans thought a ‘soft’ second half penalty, whilst also laying claim to two decent shouts for a spot kick themselves.

Evans told the clubs IFollow video ‘The referee gives a penalty, which he`s entitled to do and I`m speaking with the benefit of watching it back, it`s not a penalty.’

On the subject of the Stags claims for a sport kick, with two shouts that looked to have legs “And if he gives that, he must give the one on Ricky Miller. We`ve just looked at it and there is a push. The handball is in the box. I`m not going to fault my players today.’

‘The referee has been shocking, and will be marked accordingly’. the gaffer went on.

The former Leeds United boss then went further which could have some calls being made to the managers office at some point this week ‘He shouldn’t officiate at this level, and go back to where he belongs’.
