Ok, so our history is all built around the famous Freight Rover Trophy win in 1987, but for Mansfield Town Supporters, you can stick the Champions League up the drain pipe, nothing comes close to matching the passion of following your local football team.
All the parasites that sit and watch Premier League Football in town, on a Field Mill matchday, can only dream of the emotion of being close to a team, who have no hope in hell of reaching the promised land.
What clubs at our level do offer, is a community spirit.
Go to any Stags away games for a time, and everyone will soon know your name, and you become part of the ‘Stags Family’.
You watch the Premier League on SKY’s monopoly subscription service, and all you see are tourists masking themselves as supporters, clicking away, taking photos of their superstar heros, as they prepare to take a corner.
You want to try and take a picture at this level, 4 burly stewards will pounce on you before the shutter has had time to be opened.
Not that Stags supporters care a jot of course, they just want a club to love, and now with news that the most passionate board we have ever had at the helm, can’t sustain the huge weekly losses, we appeal to all russion oil barrens, to help us out.
