Mansfield remain embroiled, I like that word – not that we want to be using it, in a relegation battle following a Shrewsbury win at the One Call Stadium on Easter Monday, a win that secured them a play-off place at least.

A one-nil win guaranteed, at least, that Shrewsbury will be involved in the end of season play-offs but a first Shrews win at Mansfield since 1975, when they went up funnily enough, also moved them a top off top spot with a top three automatic finish all but assured anyway!

The goalless first half would have suited us better, clearly the visitors wanted more with Barnett brought off the bench with him making an instant impact! Ellis’ deflected cross was turned home by Barnett (50) at the back post five-minutes after his arrival.

A penalty appeal by Oliver was turned away with Bingham missing a great chance to replicate the efforts of Barnett after coming on himself; missing a chance when well placed.

Defeat means that we’re just six-points clear of safety and still in search of that win or two to secure our Football League status.
