Mansfield Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Ben Whiteman in the three nil victory over Crewe Alexandra at the weekend at Field Mill was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Whiteman was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Whiteman helped Mansfield to a second successive win, playing his part in one and scoring another in their 3-0 triumph over Crewe Alexandra. The on-loan player’s back-post header led to the opener, and he struck his first senior goal early in the second half to double the Stags’ lead.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Whiteman for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
