A 1-0 home defeat to already promoted Portsmouth has all but ended the Stags play off hopes for this season.

Despite a battling performance against a strong Pompey side, Mansfield could not break down the visiting defence, and 1,500 supporters in the North Stand were able to carry on their promotion party as home supporters, in a record 6,819 crowd went home knowing League 2 football is on the card again next season.

Only a miracle set of results can see the Stags make the play offs.

Now sat in 12th place, and two points from 7th spot and the final play off place.

Now, only the below remarkable set of results will see Mansfield sneak into those play offs.

Mansfield Town win at Crawley, and 4 of the 5 following results:

Blackpool lose at home to Leyton Orient
Carlisle lose at Exeter City
Stevenage lose at home to Accrington Stanley
Wycombe Wanderers draw with Cambridge
Colchester lose or draw at home to Yeovil.

Stags fans however, have settled for just enjoying the trip to Crawley.
