Mansfield Town assistant manager Paul Raynor was happy with the work out given by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in a 2-3 defeat at the One Call.

Defenders George Taft and Rhys Bennett were on the scoresheet for the Stags but a late winner for the visitors failed to dampen the spirits of the Stags coaching staff.

With a crowd of over 4,000 present, with 1,500 visiting from Sheffield.

Raynor told the official Mansfield Town website ‘Obviously the quality of the opposition was there for everybody to see but I thought we dealt with them well,’.

‘I thought we imposed our game for periods as well and I’m slightly disappointed to be on the losing side if I’m honest.’

‘They started with Jordan Rhodes, who was a £9m striker, it’s absolutely frightening, the quality they had on show, but I thought we held our own and we were a good threat going forward.’ Raynor concluded.

The Stags are next in action on Wednesday 19th July when they entertain Middlesborough at the One Call.
