Mansfield dropped down the League 2 table, whereas as Plymouth moved back up it into the play-off places, following our defeat at Home Park on Saturday – fortunately the bottom two doing little to make an impact on us we’ve still got a ‘cushion’ between us and safety!

This two-one defeat at Plymouth was the latest in a string of defeats and if we don’t change our run of results then you tend to feel that the only thing that will keep us up is the inability of those below us to overtake us….

Plymouth couldn’t have got off to a better start, and us a worse one, when O’Connor (2) headed them into the lead with just a couple of minutes played.

Shortly past the hour another header, this time from McHugh (63), doubled the home sides lead and left us with a mountain to climb. Any hope of getting something needed us to score quickly, we did just that with an acrobatic effort from Oliver (64) giving us belief just a minute later but we couldn’t find that equaliser.

Defeat sees us down to 20th, with only Hartlepool between us and the bottom two….And six-points mind!

We need to put things firmly back into our own hands and we’ve got a chance to do this on Tuesday against Tranmere, who we can’t afford to lose against with a draw the minimum requirement, but will we avoid defeat?
