Mansfield Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performances by Krystian Pearce in the one nil victory over Wycombe Wanderers and the one all draw with Luton Town in the weekend’s Easter double header was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Pearce was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Play-Off chasing Mansfield began Easter with victory at Wycombe Wanderers, where Pearce grabbed the crucial goal and helped the Stags to a clean sheet. A few days later, the centre-back impressed again in the 1-1 draw with Luton Town, and only a goal-line clearance prevented him from getting on the scoresheet once again.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Pearce for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
