The departure of Paul Cox just 24-hours ahead of Mansfield entertaining Plymouth Argyle was far from ideal, although we recovered from that to end a poor run with a win.

A goal on the stroke of half time saw us win 1-0 at the One Call Stadium to end a run of nine games without a win on Saturday afternoon.

Adam Murray, who wouldn’t have done his chances of getting the job on a permanent basis no harm, went attacking in his line up with Rob Taylor, Vadaine Oliver and Reggie Lambe all going close.

Somehow Plymouth failed to take the lead when Kelvin Mellor missed from two-yards, as he looped an effort at an open goal against the bar.

Having made a save from Lambe, just before the break, Plymouth ‘keeper Luke McCormick was beaten by Crewe loanee Vadaine Oliver (45), who scored his first goal for the club to give us a half time lead.

Chris Clements went close to doubling the lead after the break with other chances passing us by too but we were thankful to Sascha Studer who kept out an Andy Kellett effort to make sure that we won one-nil.
