Mansfield shared the points with Hartlepool at the One Call Stadium on Boxing Day in a game that saw three red cards.

A lead had been taken but a second half Hartlepool goal, who had two players sent off to our one, meant that the game ended in a one-one draw.

With Hartlepool appealing a penalty, which wasn’t given a one-two with Oliver it allowed Brown (10) to break away and he made no mistake as he finished past Hartlepool ‘keeper Flinders to give us an early lead.

On the stroke of half time it was almost two but Rhead saw his effort hacked off the line by Holden. Early in the second half though Hartlepool had fortune on their side when they drew level as Duckworth’s (51) effort was deflected past Evtimov.

Rhead was again unlucky not to score soon after but having hit a defender on the line, seen the ball then strike the bar and bounce down on the goal line the officials said this didn’t cross the line and it remained one-one.

We went down to 10-men though when Tafazolli collected a second yellow with Hartlepool’s Harewood following him in being sent off late on. A clash with McGuire saw the Hartlepool forward shown red and McGuire a yellow.

The game ended in a one-one draw but in injury-time Hartlepool lost another man when Woods was sent off when he too clashed with McGuire.
