Mansfield Town manager Steve Evans has been talking cryptically in his after match interviews in the wake of the shocking 3-1 home loss to Swindon Town.

A defeat which leaves the Stags in 11th place, far from the ‘project promotion’ sold to the loyal support in pre-season, has left social media and football forums surrounding the club, in meltdown this evening.

Coming on the back of the 2-0 away loss to Colchester United last week, alongside Evans not taking too kindly to some supporters at the game chanting about the players being rubbish, at the end of the defeat, meant more boos rang around the One Call, as the Stags gave up their unbeaten home record to Swindon.

This was not how it was meant to be, just three months into the season.

Now, following all of this, Evans has conducted two radio interviews with BBC Radio Nottingham and the Club’s media custodian Mark Stevenson, and said that he will be sitting down with Paul Raynor and working out if they are the best team to take the club forward.

This has been taken as maybe Evans will decide he isn’t and ride off into the sunset.

With the Gillingham approach still fresh in the mind, will he look towards Kent as an escape route?

Or will he roll his sleeves up and sort the mess out?

One thing is for certain, the supporters are now restless!
