Mansfield Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Kane Hemmings in the three one victory over Carlisle United on New Year’s Day at Field Mill was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Hemmings was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A brace from Hemmings against Carlisle United helped the Stags rise into the Play-Off places, and also saw them extend their impressive run to just one defeat in 18 games in all competitions. The finishes were the striker`s sixth and seventh of the campaign, and the win puts Mansfield within one point of the top three.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Hemmings for his recognition, but the most important thing about the game was of course the points.

Full Team:

Jordan Smith (Nottingham Forest), Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham), Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough), Ethan Pinnock (Barnsley), Robert Snodgrass (Aston Villa), Matt Bloomfield (Wycombe Wanderers), Tom Naylor (Burton Albion), Tom Pett (Stevenage), Kane Hemmings (Mansfield Town), Tom Eaves (Gillingham), Robbie Willmott (Newport County).

Manager Steve Cotterill (Birmingham City).
