Just as important as the likes of Valentines Day, Deadline Day is just as exciting for football fans up and down the country, and the Stags were handed gifts in their promotion push.

It appeared that manager Steve Evans had done his transfer window business earlier in the week, with the capture of loanee Adam King from Premier League side Swansea City.

The 22 year old midfielder is expected to fill the shoes of injured Jacob Mellis and make a longer claim for a place in the starting eleven up to the end of the season.

But it wasn’t until deadline day that Evan’s really came into his own, for after sending former Millwall midfielder Callum Butcher out to pasture at Billericay on loan, he started to make a few phone calls.

He won the race for Sheffield Wednesday winger Matt Penney, again on loan until the end of the season.

Wednesday fans have raved about the 19 year old, with some on social media hinting he was even close to a call up to the first team in the Championship.

He will certainly be giving CJ Hamilton a run for his money over the coming weeks.

Then came the big prize, a proven goal scorer in the form of Ricky Miller, the fact he came from Peterborough United along with several other stars this season went under the radar somewhat!.

This guy is prolific, and will score at this level there is no doubt. The 28 year old scored 72 goals in 110 appearances whilst at Dover Athletic, it’s why the Posh signed him up in the summer, but his opportunities have been limited at London Road.

Is he the missing piece of the promotion jigsaw, we certainly think so.

Happy Deadline Day!
