Mansfield’s FA Cup season is over for another year after we suffered defeat in our replay on Tuesday night.

After being denied in the original tie hopes were high at the One Call Stadium but it was Cambridge that advanced to round three with a one-nil win.

We had a great chance to go ahead with less than a minute played but from a Bingham cross, with just Dunn to beat, Oliver could only head straight at him from close range.

This miss was punished when Kaikai (10) saw his shot deflect off Waterfall and past Studer, who couldn’t do anything to keep this out. Minutes later Oliver had another chance but headed over from a Palmer knock back.

Studer kept out a Bird effort to keep us in the game with Lambe then going narrowly close, but he couldn’t force the ball home to level for us and as time ran down Bingham had an effort deflected wide and Rhead headed over.

A minute from time we looked to have forced extra time when his overhead kick went in but the celebrations were cut short by a linesman’s flag as we went out one-nil.
