Stags boss Steve Evans was delighted his side overcame Grimsby Town in their 4-1 early kick off win.

The Mansfield Town boss told the official Mansfield Town Website.

‘I think we played really well in spells, I was a bit critical with the boys at half time. I think in the second half we passed it around a lot more.’

‘We had chances to win by six or seven in the end, but that is a good Grimsby team we have beaten.’ he went on

After seeing his side miss 3 penalties so far this season, Evans was thankful to see two given in the game, both converted. ‘Lee (Angol)stepped up for the first penalty and that first one was courageous.’

The Stags are next in action on Tuesday when they face Wycombe Wanderers at the One Call, before the big local derby with Lincoln City next weekend.
