Mansfield Town manager Steve Evans has been speaking about the local derby this weekend as the Stags head to Lincoln City for the 1pm kick off.

Speaking to Evans said ‘Some people think the Check-a-Trade game will have a bearing, but that is their opinion, that game turned when the big money signing came onto the pitch.’

‘I think they (Lincoln) are a wonderful football club, and I was a rival manager to them for a few years, they are fantastic supporters and my daughter is a student at Lincoln University and she loves it.’

‘They have a wonderful management team that came in and took them of the conference, with 95 points, still a long way short of what we got though.’

As you know, we have been quite witty about our rivals snapping up all players with links to Mansfield Town, and Evans himself was prompted on the fact that one or two players the supporters know, will feature on Saturday ‘There could have been two or three more if I’d have let it happen, i don’t know if there was an infatuation or not.’

Evans also hinted that Lincoln had celebrated widely after that 3-1 Check-a-Trade trophy win at the one call, and insisted that should his players win at Sincil Bank, they will quitely get on with their business for the next match.
