Mansfield Town defender Zander Diamond is expected to be fit for the long trip to Carlisle today, after picking up a slight knock in the last away game at Accrington Stanley.

He was able to prove to prove to the medical staff on Thursday that he was fully fit, so made the journey north with the squad yesterday, as once again an overnight stay was laid on by the club.

The Stags are aiming to stop their stuttering start to the season, which has so far only seen one win, the 2-0 home success over Forest Green Rovers.

However, the trip to Carlisle is not easy, with the Stags not having a good time there last season, as boss Steve Evans saw his side thrashed 5-2 in the league game.

Evans told the official Mansfield Town website ‘Carlisle is a very difficult place to go. Keith Curle has done an excellent job up there.’
