Mansfield Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Rhys Bennett in the one nil victory over Stevenage at the weekend at the Lamex Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Bennett was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Mansfield continued their quest for a Sky Bet League Two Play-Off place with a 1-0 win at Stevenage, moving them within a point of their opponents. Bennett stood firm at the back for the Stags to repel the hosts, who have been on fine form in 2017, and he played his part in the game`s only goal, emphatically finished off by Danny Rose.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Bennett for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
